One thing that makes Ghana an amazing destination is its freedom to roam and do what you feel to do. Accra is the capital town of Ghana and it is one of the easiest to navigate capital in Africa. Accra is also a safe place unlike the other cities in Africa. Ghana is an open and friendly place where everyone is willing to help and offer to guide travelers for free while others will require a petty dash. Ghana is an Anglophone country which means you are good to go if you are a native English speaker or can speak good English. Every local you will meet speaks good English so there is a chance for you to ask questions to know your way out.

There are beach resorts, bars, restaurants, and nightclubs where you can befriend a travel buddy, especially when going to isolated places.

There are intercity caravans called ''Trotro'' that can offer you an affordable way to travel from town to town or city to city. A Trotro driver and a conductor popularly called "mate" in Ghana can offer you great help when going to other cities and towns or tourist sites. Some drivers can double as security to accompany you to the markets, clubs, restaurants and etc, that is if you will be able to pay their expenses.

The best places to hang out as a solo traveler are in decent places, don't try to hang out often in isolated places or move out at night to an unknown location. Appropriate places to spend time are beach resorts, restaurants, cafes, and nightclubs. Those places are where you can meet fellow travelers to mingle and share experiences and tips together.

Always make sure to pick up a car from the designated bus terminal called "Station". One can also rent a car which is quite expensive in Ghana but depends on the agency or the person as well.

Tourist Destinations

Ghana has amazing and swashbuckling tourist destinations, national parks, forts and castles, and exquisite places to visit. Travelers who want to tour Accra can go to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Kokrobite, Makola market, Independence square, and the Arts center. The closest city to Accra is the historical and ancient city of Cape Coast, it is Ghana's first capital town and it has some wonderful tourist sites and places to visit such as The Cape Coast and Elmina Castles, Fort Williams and Victoria, Kakuma National Park, Assin Manso Ancestral River and many more.

Takoradi which is located in the western part of Ghana is also a wonderful city to visit. Travelers can visit Nzulenzo Stilt village, Busua Beach Resort, or Ankasa Forest reserve.

Other places of scenic interest are the Volta regions, where you can find the Wli Falls and Mt. Afadjato, one can also visit Boti and Kitampo Falls. The Northern part of Ghana also has places like the Paga crocodile pond, Mole National Park, Wichiau Hippo sanctuary, and many more beautiful places in Ghana.
